A cozy corner of the woods

The Woodland Almanac

Gentle stories, short cartoons, and sleepy sounds from Mosswallow Woods β€” where four little friends ask big questions, name their feelings, build things that fall down, and listen to the quiet.

β€œMosswallow is cozy, and so are you.”

Meet the four friends

Each friend is good at one thing β€” and every story lets them practice it, out loud, together.

Pip, a small red fox kit with a leaf-shaped tail tip

Pip

The Curious Kit Β· Fox

Pip notices everything β€” a crunch, a shadow, a leaf that wasn't there yesterday β€” and always wants to look one step closer.

β€œWhat if we look closer?”

Clover, a gentle fawn with cream spots and a clover mark

Clover

The Gentle Fawn Β· Deer

Clover helps everyone name what they're feeling, big or small, and knows a slow breath can make a feeling easier to hold.

β€œLet's breathe and notice.”

Bramble, a round bear cub wearing a moss-green scarf

Bramble

The Builder Bear Β· Bear Cub

Bramble stacks stones, sorts sticks, and builds towers that sometimes tumble β€” which is fine. Tumbling is part of building.

β€œPlan it, build it, try again.”

Fern, a small owlet with big amber eyes and a fern-feather tuft

Fern

The Listening Owlet Β· Owl

Fern hears what everyone else misses β€” the stream under the leaves, the word inside the rhyme β€” and loves stories most of all.

β€œListen β€” what did you hear?”

The Woodland Almanac β€” First Walks Β· Book 1

Pip's First Autumn Walk

Walk with Pip, a small red fox kit, on his first autumn walk through Mosswallow Woods. Three leaves fall β€” a gold one that crunches, a rust one resting soft on moss, and a smooth cream one that lands right on Pip's tail. Your little one counts along β€” one, two, three β€” and meets each leaf by how it feels and sounds.

One year in Mosswallow Woods

The Almanac follows one whole year β€” 52 weekly stories that grow with the friends, from their first wobbly autumn to their first birthday. Every week's episode has a matching coloring page, so little hands can color the story they just watched.

Weeks 1–13 Β· Autumn

Beginnings

The four friends arrive one by one, meet in the clearing, celebrate a friendly pumpkin Halloween, and count all four friends together for the very first time.

Weeks 14–26 Β· Winter

The Quiet Woods

First snow, the longest night, and a New Year moon watch. The woods slow down β€” and the friends grow steadier, braver, and better listeners.

Weeks 27–39 Β· Spring

Everything Wakes

Rain on a big leaf, the first flower, and last year's leaves finally letting go. Longer legs, longer sentences, and bigger feelings handled with older skills.

Weeks 40–52 Β· Summer

Long Days, First Birthday

The first picnic, the first paddle, fireflies over the water β€” and in Week 52, the Big Goodnight: all four friends turn one year old as the first gold leaf falls again.

For grown-ups

Built calm-first, on purpose.

Gentle, always

No villains, no scares, no sarcasm. Every story maps to real early learning β€” feelings and kindness, counting and noticing, building and trying again, listening and first words.

A ritual to end on

Every book, episode, and video closes with the same goodnight ritual line, so the end of a story always feels familiar, safe, and sleepy: β€œMosswallow is cozy, and so are you.”

Made for kids, honestly

Our videos are marked Made for Kids, our sleep sounds are just the sounds of the woods, and the friends grow at a real child's pace β€” one small first at a time, never rushed.

Questions from grown-ups

The things parents and caregivers ask us most β€” answered plainly, the Mosswallow way.

What is The Woodland Almanac?

The Woodland Almanac is a cozy world of gentle stories, songs, picture books, and sleep sounds from Mosswallow Woods. It stars four little friends β€” Pip the fox kit, Clover the fawn, Bramble the bear cub, and Fern the owlet β€” who ask big questions, name their feelings, build things, and listen to the quiet, one small first at a time.

What ages is it for?

It grows with your child. Season One is made for babies and toddlers β€” roughly ages 0–4 β€” with short, calm stories and lots of repetition. Each season, the friends grow a year older, and the stories grow gently with them.

Where can we watch?

On YouTube at @TheWoodlandAlmanac β€” you'll find the episodes there, plus the Complete Autumn Night sleep videos in 1-hour, 3-hour, and 8-hour versions for naps and whole nights. Short visits with the friends also appear as Shorts and clips on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook β€” everywhere as @thewoodlandalmanac.

Where can we get the books?

Pip's First Autumn Walk β€” our first picture book, a paperback counting story for ages baby–4 β€” is available now on Amazon as an 8.5 Γ— 8.5-inch paperback for $11.99. Buy it on Amazon. A 52-page Season One Coloring Book β€” one page for every episode β€” is coming soon. You can also join the Grown-Ups Letter for news of new books and free printables.

Is the coloring page really free?

Yes, really free. Download the printable coloring page (PDF) and print it as many times as your family needs β€” it's for personal and family use, and classrooms are welcome too. New subscribers to the Grown-Ups Letter also receive it automatically in their welcome email.

Does it cost anything to watch?

No. All of our videos β€” episodes, Shorts, and the sleep sounds β€” are free to watch on YouTube. Books are sold separately, but watching never costs a thing.

Are the stories made with AI?

Honestly: yes, in part β€” and we're glad you asked. The Almanac is created by a small, human-led team. Every story and song is written and checked by people, and people direct every episode. We use modern AI tools to help make the art, voices, and music that bring those stories to life. The heart of Mosswallow β€” the words, the lessons, and that goodnight line β€” is human, through and through.

How do I contact you?
